04 - The DREAM, REALIZED

Because Michael was the builder, we asked Taylor to detail her experience with the subcontractors and other members of the Jace & Bowen team.

"Building our home was such a great experience because we were able to truly make it fit our style and vision. One of the things we loved most was being able to customize selections and create a home that felt like us from the beginning. The custom touches, especially the accent walls and trim work, made the house feel unique and truly one of a kind.

One expectation we had going into the process was wanting to find subcontractors who listened and worked with Michael and Alec to create a custom home experience while staying within budget and that expectation was absolutely met. All of our subs listened to our wants and needs, helped us prioritize what was most important, and made sure we could incorporate those features while staying budget conscious.

 Everyone was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain what was happening throughout each phase of the build. They were also incredibly accommodating. One example was when we wanted to move the HVAC location, they worked with us to make it happen. We especially appreciated how willing everyone was to provide visuals and walk us through options because seeing the space helped us make confident decisions."

03 - The BUILD

The dedication to build a quality home showed up in the details throughout the build. The 20-foot beamed ceilings and open layout were designed for a home that feels good when it's full of people. The gourmet kitchen with a large center island and quartz surfaces was built for real cooking and real gatherings, not just looks. A dedicated office with custom built-ins gave Michael a workspace that actually functions, and the upstairs loft with a full bath means family always has a place to stay. 

DESIGNING FOR EXCELLENCE

Out back, a covered porch with a gas log fireplace and a barn on the property make five acres in the Hill Country feel exactly like what it should, a place to both relax and host! The Reeds outdoor porch is often full of people watching football, looking at the free roaming Blackbuck, and eating Michael's famous smoked BBQ.

02 - The challenge

When timeline meets builder...

Every trade, every delivery, every decision had a hard deadline attached to it. To hit that window, we made some calculated bets specifying products and finishes we hadn't built with before to really make this house stand out. That meant less margin for error and no room to course-correct if something didn't perform. Model homes don't really get second chances so we did a lot of homework upfront, leaned on our supplier relationships, and trusted our instincts. It paid off.

This one was a huge team effort! You can see Michael's wife, Taylor, with her work belt on doing punch checks during the process.

01 - The vision

Our owner Michael and his wife Taylor found their five acres in the Ranches at Blackbuck Ridge and immediately knew it was the right fit. Tucked in the Hill Country between Burnet and Lampasas, Blackbuck Ridge is the kind of community where properties have room to breathe. The community was aptly named, as a few herd of Blackbuck roam across acreage lots with Whitetail Deer providing the exemptions to match.

For Michael, building here carried real weight because this was the one of the flagship homes built for Jace & Bowen Custom Builders. It became our model home and where we invite homeowners to see what we can do. More importantly, it is where he and Taylor dreamed they might raise their family one day.
